In the begining

With the United Arab Emirates rapid development and evolution, the demand on the workforce to adapt and grow has been tremendous. The idea for Bidaya came from a desire to help young people to get the best possible start to their adult lives.

The programme is designed to encourage UAE nationals to develop skills and experience. The word Bidaya means 'beginning' in Arabic. Bidaya is an opportunity for nationals to unlock their potential for a better future; it's an education and leadership programme aimed at national students studying in the public school system. We want each person in the programme to have a new beginning; an opportunity to learn and grow in a field of their choice and start university study with support and guidance provided by a team of educated professionals.

In the pilot programme, 20 national students were given the opportunity to study a career of their choosing, but it also provides them with the best tools and resources to develop their personalities, leadership skills and decide on the best course of action. The Bidaya programme is a genesis of what it can become; we foresee it moving beyond the UAE borders, beyond nationality and growing to encompass all age groups. Bidaya is about the willingness to learn, the ability to go beyond traditional education; it's the openness to experience anything and everything.

In the pages that follow you will get a better understanding of what the Bidaya programme is all about; how we see it developing and what we want it to become. It will also provide you with insight in to the various components of the programme, and what being a member of the Bidaya team is all about. If you are interested we'd love to hear from you.
